My top 5 rides at Walt Disney Studios

Let's start by addressing the fact, I've not written an entry for 20 days. I'm sorry folks but the term has started and with it all the not so wonderful paperwork. Normal service has now resumed (hopefully).

So my top 5 Walt Disney Studios rides. If you think about it, it makes sense, especially given how I have already listed my top 5 rides for Disneyland Park. So without further ado, let us begin...

5. Art of Animation

Now I know what you're all thinking "but Kelly, does this count as a ride?", to which I answer the following "you have to queue for it and you're not getting food at the end, therefore I'm counting it as a ride".

Considered an OG Walt Disney Studios ride,  present in the days of Disney Channel tour where you used to stop by Cyberspace Mountain on the way out (well, everyone did. I was too scared). I'll be honest dear readers, I didn't know if it still holds up, however during my recent trip last December I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was regularly updated (they showed clips of Wreck-It Ralph 2) and the Mushu segment was just as funny as it was 16 years ago (yeah, we've gone past a 15 year anniversary for the studios, where was the party for it. I see you, Disney).

If you are a fan of animation or need a 10-15 breather away from the madness of the park then make a little stop here for a little bit of entertaining learning.

4. Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop

I'll be honest, I like Toy Story Playland. It's a really cool mini-lad with some very clever theming. It also has 3 really good quality rides (spoilers, this isn't the only ride from Toy Story Playland on the list).

Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop is the "family" ride in Toy Story Playland. It's an Intermin Paratower, think of it like a very well themed drop ride. The tower is over 80ft and provides a really good view of not just the Studios but also Disney Village and lake Disney depending on what side of the parachute you are sitting at. It's definitely one to head to come opening time or a really good use of the single rider line.

3. Crush's Coaster

I really, really like this ride. I just wish that it had a higher capacity. This ride is a must do at rope drop or extra-magic hour, otherwise, you're going to be waiting at least an hour on a quiet day.

That being said, it's a wonderful riot when you actually board your shell. Unlike other rides, this ride gets the thrills and spinning straight off the bat. The following quiet section is really beautiful and uses some really cool UV effects. However, the best part by far is the 20-30 spinning finale in the dark.

A really fun ride that is a really good start to your day trip at Walt Disney Studios.

2. RC Racer

I love RC Racer. It's a really good fun 25m Half-Pipe coaster with some really good theming, both on ride and surrounding. Seated in your RC Car, you whizz up and down the track providing some really fun air-time. The whole 45 second- 1-minute experience is a complete riot. Queues are much quieter than the other thrill rides and there's also a single rider queue for those of you who are lonely/brave.

1. Ratatouille: The Adventure

Repeat after me. This ride is an innovation! Let me break it down to you. Firstly, it's a trackless ride, the newest of Disney's 4 trackless lines (check out Bryan Wawzenek's article on the other 3 trackless rides here) and is the only one (to my knowledge) to implement 3-D scenery.

Secondly, the theming is beautiful! Whether it's the fantastic animation in the 3-D scenes or the mind-blowing set pieces that you travel through on route to each scene. Every detail makes you feel that you're a small mouse on the streets of Paris and I can't get enough!

Also, it's a ride that anybody can do. There's no restriction and the ride provides enough thrills for the thrill seekers whilst being tame enough for the scared tiddlywinks.

It has single rider line, Fastpass and is on the extra magic hours. So please, make sure you take the time to visit this ride!

Cowboy Cookout Barbecue

Fact-file: Location: Frontierland/Disneyland Park Type of restaurant: Counter Service.  Cost: 13-16 euro for an adult combo meal, 9 euro for a children's meal and 6 euro for a coffee break. Option to reserve a table: No. Character Dining: No.  There is one counter service in Disneyland Park that is leaps and bounds above the rest. One that has some of the BEST food in the whole park for really good value. This honour belongs to Cowboy Cookout Barbecue . There are many reasons why I have a soft spot for this place. Firstly, it's atmosphere is one of, if not the best counter service in Disneyland Paris. It's a good old fashioned western barn on the outside and the inside is adorned with wooden chairs and benches. Cowboy Cookout looks amazing. I challenge anybody who says otherwise. Bistrot Chez Remy (aka Chef Remy)

Fact File Location: Walt Disney Studios Type of restaurant: Table Service Cost: 46 euro for 3 courses on the Emile menu with a soft drink. This goes up to 67 euro if you are eating from the Gusteau menu. 19-33 euro for children according to menu selected.  Option to reserve a table: Yes Character dining: No I have previously said that one's dining experience at the studios varies entirely on what you are willing to pay. Whilst I bashed Restaurant en Coulisse as an overcrowded mess, I gave Resturant des Stars a 10/10 and called it my favourite dining location in the park. So the million euro question becomes where does Bistrot Chez Remy lie?  I will start by saying that this place has the best theming in the whole park. Whether it's the newspaper reviews that are in the lobby as you wait for your table or the bottle caps that are wired together to make your seating, this place is full of little Easter-eggs that will delight any fans of the original Pixar ...
