Earl of Sandwich

Fact-file
  • Location: Disney Village
  • Type of restaurant: Counter Service
  • Cost: 12-14 euro for a meal featuring either crisps or a brownie. 8 euro for kids.
  • Option to reserve a table: No
  • Character Dining: No

I mentioned in my beginner's guide to Disney Village, that I loved the American version of this place and I was curious as to whether it's French counterpart could deliver. After all, the counter service restaurants in France are far more of a lottery than their American counterparts.

That being said, I can say with pride that the food here is really good and the theming isn't half bad either.

My family and I visited here on a Wednesday lunchtime and were able to find some seating on the top floor of the building. This floor was themed around an old fashioned library and had some really fun detailing amongst the ceiling and the walls. As a former literature student, I very much approved and it really made me smile.

That being said, our good friend Earl did suffer from a slight crowding problem. There was a little bit of bunching as we made our order and grabbed our drinks and as somebody who's autistic, I couldn't help but feel slightly lost. Thank heavens we weren't there in the evening.

But the food, oh my goodness the food. If every sandwich is the same quality as the ones my family picked, then I can 100% understand this place's popularity.

My brother and I ordered the cannonball sandwich. This was a meatball sub with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and every mouthful was just fantastic. The warm of the pepper and herbs in the Marinara sauce complemented the creamy cheese perfectly. Whilst the toasted bread was a great casing for the meatballs meaning that none escaped whilst I was eating, unlike a meatball sub from another sandwich chain.

However, what I should have ordered was the Full Montagu, my mother's sandwich choice. I tried a small bit of her sandwich and there was a variety of different complex flavours coming together to cause a tango on my tongue. Needless to say, this will be my order if I ever come back.

Overall, this place is fantastic and can very easily be my favourite counter service in the village. The food is excellent here and the theming really made me smile. I do, however, have to dock one mark for the ordering system as I would work far better as multiple queues instead of the 1 queue where you have to see 5 different people. That's just my preference though.

Final Score: 9/10

Cowboy Cookout Barbecue

Fact-file: Location: Frontierland/Disneyland Park Type of restaurant: Counter Service.  Cost: 13-16 euro for an adult combo meal, 9 euro for a children's meal and 6 euro for a coffee break. Option to reserve a table: No. Character Dining: No.  There is one counter service in Disneyland Park that is leaps and bounds above the rest. One that has some of the BEST food in the whole park for really good value. This honour belongs to Cowboy Cookout Barbecue . There are many reasons why I have a soft spot for this place. Firstly, it's atmosphere is one of, if not the best counter service in Disneyland Paris. It's a good old fashioned western barn on the outside and the inside is adorned with wooden chairs and benches. Cowboy Cookout looks amazing. I challenge anybody who says otherwise. Bistrot Chez Remy (aka Chef Remy)

Fact File Location: Walt Disney Studios Type of restaurant: Table Service Cost: 46 euro for 3 courses on the Emile menu with a soft drink. This goes up to 67 euro if you are eating from the Gusteau menu. 19-33 euro for children according to menu selected.  Option to reserve a table: Yes Character dining: No I have previously said that one's dining experience at the studios varies entirely on what you are willing to pay. Whilst I bashed Restaurant en Coulisse as an overcrowded mess, I gave Resturant des Stars a 10/10 and called it my favourite dining location in the park. So the million euro question becomes where does Bistrot Chez Remy lie?  I will start by saying that this place has the best theming in the whole park. Whether it's the newspaper reviews that are in the lobby as you wait for your table or the bottle caps that are wired together to make your seating, this place is full of little Easter-eggs that will delight any fans of the original Pixar ...
